The modifications saw the innovative addition of a twin track front zip, previously unseen on any jacket. Another notable modification was the dual-entry ‘tunnel’ pocket on the back which allowed the wearer to access his/her gloves or maps from the left or the right with ease. Favourite of the 59 Club, many wearers used the back pocket more inventively by insertinga daily newspaper for added insulation against the cold. The 440 was also the first jacket to feature the zippered sleeve pocket.
